The Toronto Wolfpack is proud to announce another great addition to an already strong squad, with the signing of USA men’s national team captain Ryan Burroughs. Burroughs, who hails from Manassas, Virginia, started his career with the Northern Virginia Eagles where he notched 33 tries in his debut season.
His success with the Eagles was quickly noticed earning him a starting position for the USA National Rugby League Team, The Hawks where he captained the side as they last qualified for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
The Wentworthville Magpies invited Burroughs to Australia where he played with the team for one season tallying 17 tries for the side.
Paul Rowley, Wolfpack head coach stated, “We made a commitment to North America and Canada to unearth talent from within to which Ryan is one of the several targets we have identified. Ryan is a very proud American man with an unbelievable enthusiasm for the task ahead and I’m looking forward to working with him and guiding him to improve and progress as a player. Like all our recruits and indeed the staff we are all relishing the opportunity to be bold, brave and pioneering in our quest to bring the world’s greatest sport to North America.”
Burroughs added, “I’m extremely thankful to become a member of the Toronto Wolfpack, it’s amazing what happens when you let go and let God in. I’m a blessed man and I plan to give the Wolfpack everything I’ve got.”
