We are now 2 weeks into our first ever pre-season, and it’s a unique experience for everyone involved. Normally you may have 3 to 4 new players to integrate into your squad but we’ve had 24 come together as a group for the first time.
We were down on a few numbers the first week as our North American and Australian players had not arrived yet, though we had our full squad available the second week plus our new signing FuiFui MoiMoi. The conditioning staff has been working the boys very hard on the field and in the gym. Usually, for the first few weeks, the guys don’t see much of the ball, but with us having a new team we have spent a lot of time learning how we play.
It’s a lot for the new boys to take in but as a staff, we have been pleased with how well they have picked up the rhythm and so far it’s an encouraging sign of things to come.
It’s a great feeling seeing the boys coming in each day smiling, it’s not normally the case during pre-season as it can be long and hard time for everyone. However, the boys have been great and there is a real buzz about the place. As they get to know each other a little better and their personalities come out we are sure the energy will keep growing.
Next week, we have the trialists from our open tryouts touching down in the UK for the next part of their journey to earn a chance at joining the Wolfpack. As a staff, we are very excited to see what they can produce and look forward to what they will bring to the field.
