It’s great to be back in again after our Christmas break. The lads have had a few days off during the festive season, and deservedly so. They have worked extremely hard up until Christmas, and that trend has continued into the New Year.
Our Strength and Conditioning staff of Bob Beswick and Andrew Dixon have done a fantastic job to have the lads in the physical shape they are currently in. It’s always a good sign and testament to the fact that the lads are fit when the coaches are trying to figure out new ways to make training harder, as they just don’t seem to be getting tired anymore.
The last two Saturdays have seen us run against Halifax and Huddersfield Giants, respectively. Both were training scrimmage matches, essentially a proper game, without the full on contact. These scrimmage games are invaluable for us as coaching staff, as we get to test our lads against different attacking and defensive systems, which we can only normally get in a full game situation.
History is upon us as this week as we will see the first ever Toronto Wolfpack game, as we clash with Hull Fc at the KCOM Stadium, in our first ever pre-season friendly. The KCOM stadium is one of the best Rugby League stadiums in the U.K., and it’s only fitting that it’s where our first game will take place.
I know the lads can’t wait to get going. It’s a long off-season/pre-season for them, and what is even more special for them is they are the first ever representatives to wear the Toronto Wolfpack jersey.
The journey begins…….
