It has been a historic week for the club with our first ever match taking place.
The result didn’t go our way in terms of the scoreboard, though overall we can be reasonably happy with some aspects of our performance. It was our first hit out as a group with the majority of the squad not playing a game since September last year, and a handful of others having not played for almost a year now. The game has highlighted certain areas we need to work on before the season starts. Encouragingly, though, there were also areas we did quite well at, but still need polishing before the first regular season game.
The aftermath of the game has seen the lads have one of their toughest weeks of pre-season. The sessions have been long with a lot of time spent fixing certain areas the coaching staff weren’t happy with.
We are still in our pre-season programme so the lads will have a few more tough weeks ahead of them before the training will taper down slightly, in preparation of the start of the season.
This Saturday will again see us run against Huddersfield Giants in a training game scrimmage. It will give us a chance to fix up the areas we have been working on against a quality opposition.
