Another week of pre-season has passed, and we are now another week closer to the start of the season. The boys are keen to get the season going by now. It’s been a long and hard pre-season for them. A lot longer than they are all used to, as most teams normally do their pre-season between November to early January, then cut down their volume of training for when the games start. But, because our season won’t start until late February, we have had the extra month to get some more fitness and strength training in, which has been fantastic for the coaching/conditioning staff, though I’m not so sure the players share that feeling.
Last Sunday saw us run against the Salford City Reds in a bodies in front scrimmage. It was a very good hit out for our boys, and it once again afforded myself and the coaching staff some really good insight as to where we are currently as a group, in advance of the start of the season. We have come on well as group since day one of pre-season but we still have quite a bit of improvement left in us.
This weekend will see the 2nd round of the Challenge Cup take place. We will be waiting on the results with interest to see who our opponents will be in the 3rd round, in what will be the Toronto Wolfpack’s first-ever official game.
