(Toronto) The Toronto Wolfpack have made their biggest statement yet by signing 6 time Super League champion and former Great Britain and England international prop forward Ryan Bailey on a 2 year deal. Bailey started his career at his hometown club Leeds Rhinos in 2012. Bailey went on to attain legendary status at Leeds, appearing over 300 times in 13 seasons, and winning 6 Super League championships, and 1 Challenge Cup. In 2015 he split time with Hull KR, and Castleford Tigers. Last season he joined high fliers Warrington Wolves and appeared in the grand final again, this time in a losing effort.
Toronto Wolfpack Head of Rugby, Brian Noble welcomed Bailey with these comments: “It’s another great signing for the Wolfpack. Ryan is one of the most decorated players in the history of Super League. He brings with him a great attitude, presence, and key experience. Best of all he understands his role in the scheme of a game of footy.”
Ryan Bailey had this to say on joining his new club: “Yeah, feels great to be back playing and continuing my career at Toronto Wolfpack. I’ve been out of the game since the grand final last year, but I’ve kept myself fit. This is the first time I’ve met Rowles, and been under him as coach, but I can see he’s a great guy, and I’m looking forward to the next 2 years. Toronto are on the up, and this is one reason I wanted to join. The lads seem to work hard for each other, and that’s probably why there doing great at the minute. I want to thank the club for the opportunity and can’t wait to get on the field for my debut.”
Bailey could see action as soon as this Sunday, April 9th at Doncaster RLFC, with a Kick-Off time of 9am ET/2pm BST, live on GameTV, Premier Sports, and streaming online via CBC.ca.
