Toronto Wolfpack can confirm that Dan Fleming has left the Club. The Welsh International Prop Forward made 15 appearances during the 2017 season, and played a key role in the Wolfpack’s inaugural season League 1 title win.
Fleming has signed a 2-year deal with Rugby League Championship rivals Halifax RLFC. Toronto Wolfpack Head Coach Paul Rowley commented:
“Dan approached me recently to discuss the season ahead and how the travel our team is committed to would not suit his family dynamics, due to the birth of his first child.
“Dan was very honest and upfront and throughout the process of finding a new club he remained professional and positive around the squad.
“As always we are a club that supports its players. Player welfare is very important to us all and therefore we fully supported Dan’s request to find a club closer to home. We worked closely with Halifax RLFC to make the transition as smooth as possible.
“The team and I wish Dan the best of luck going forward, and thank him for his contribution to the Wolfpack.”
Halifax RLFC Head Coach Richard Marshall added:
“I must thank Paul Rowley and Martin Vickers at Toronto for agreeing to release Dan and his agent Dave Peet for making sure this move got finalised. I think it’s a great amicable fit for both clubs.”
