Toronto Wolfpack have announced their intention to dominate the 2018 BetFred Championship with a 34-12 victory over Leigh Centurions on Sunday.
Making their debut in the English rugby league’s second tier following their promotion as League 1 winners last year, the Wolfpack picked up exactly where they left off.
An attacking masterclass at Leigh Sports Village was headlined by a Liam Kay hat-trick, with tries also coming from Ryan Brierley, Cory Paterson and Adam Sidlow.
The match appeared to be a heading towards a one-sided affair with the Centurions bagging two tries in the opening nine minutes, but the visitors turned things round to score 34 unanswered points and cruise to an impressive opening day victory.
Despite the Centurions boasting former NRL players Daniel Mortimer, Kyle Lovett, Bodene Thompson, Peter Mata’utia and Drew Hutchison, they were no match for a Wolfpack side bolstered by the off season additions of Australian former top-tier players Josh McCrone, Jack Buchanan and Paterson.
