Tickets for Super League’s 2020 Dacia Magic Weekend, a showpiece festival event that sees an entire round played at one venue across two days, go on sale from Monday November 4, 9am ET.
Scheduled for May 23 and 24, the annual event is returning to Newcastle after being staged at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool in 2019. Similar in structure to the Championship’s Summer Bash, an event the Wolfpack took part in during the 2019 Season, Magic Weekend will see each Super League side descending on St James’ Park for two days of thrilling action.
The Wolfpack took part in the 2018 installment of the prestigious event, also held at St James’ Park, clashing with Toulouse Olympique in a Betfred Championship fixture that acted as the Super League curtain raiser. The Wolfpack emerged victorious over the French outfit in a high-scoring thriller that ended 43-30 and featured a memorable hat-trick from winger Liam Kay.
Home of iconic English football Club Newcastle United since 1892, St James’ Park has also hosted international football, the 2012 Olympics, Rugby Union World Cup fixtures and countless more prestigious events on the world stage. Able to hold over 50,000 fans, it is one of the largest stadiums in the United Kingdom.
56,869 fans watched on over the two days of the 2019 Magic Weekend and they were treated to fantastic on-field action. Four of the six games were decided by two tries or under, with two contests separating the combatants at full-time by just two points.
The Magic Weekend format has been so successful in recent years that this year it was adopted by the NRL, Australia’s premier Rugby League competition. The NRL held their own Magic Weekend in May and saw almost 135,000 fans come through the gates across four days.
A sensational opportunity for Wolfpack fans located in the UK, it is also a weekend that is sure to see many Canadian-based supporters making the trip across the Atlantic.
Early Bird tickets are available for purchase from the Wolfpack online store starting November 4 – Fans will be able to get a full weekend ticket for the price of one until Tuesday, November 12!
