Ashton Sims joined Toronto ahead of the club’s first season in the Betfred Championship in 2018 following a hugely successful stint at Super League powerhouses Warrington Wolves.
The Australian born Fijian international spent three seasons with the Wire at the top level in the UK, featuring at Wembley and Old Trafford in the major finals of the Challenge Cup and Super League and was signed primarily to bring a level of tenacity and big game experience to the Wolfpack.
Having originally debuted in the NRL in 2003 for St George Illawarra Dragons, the dominant front rower wracked up nearly 250 games in Australia’s premier division across spells with the Dragons, Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys.
A larger than life personality with a real passion for the game, Sims became an immediate crowd favourite with Toronto fans, adding a new dimension to the forward pack through his uncompromising runs and impressive offload ability in 26 outings in Wolfpack colours last season.
Now 34 years old, Sims holds a position of real seniority and respect among the Pack’s playing group and will certainly continue to lead from the front to ensure Toronto dominate the middle of the field throughout their second season in the second division, as the club look to secure Super League promotion at the second time of asking.
