Gary Wheeler Re-Signs With The Wolfpack
Toronto Wolfpack centre and Super League veteran Gary Wheeler will again perform in the top division of UK Rugby in 2020 after signing a two-year extension with the transatlantic Club. The season will mark his return to Super League where he made his name with both St Helens and Warrington Wolves between 2008 and 2016.
Now entering his fourth season with the Wolfpack, Wheeler endured an injury interrupted 2019 that saw him able to take to the field on just three occasions. He registered tries in both pre-season friendlies before beginning the season with a bang thanks to two tries across the first three rounds but was only able to take the field once more across the year.
With a strong pre-season leading into the Wolfpack’s maiden Super League campaign, Wheeler will be looking to get his body right so that he can return to his best on the biggest Rugby League stage in the Northern Hemisphere.
A member of the Wolfpack’s inaugural squad, Wheeler has been present for every step of the Club’s journey and the reward of Super League Rugby in 2020 is fitting for a devoted team-man that has always given his all for the transatlantic side. The chance to face off against his old Club’s is sure to provide extra motivation for the Englishman during a gruelling pre-season training regime that is already well underway.
