Gaz O’Brien is enjoying his first full season in Toronto colours after joining the Betfred Championship side from Super League’s Salford early last season.
The acquisition of the skilful fullback turned out to be a hugely important piece of business for the Wolfpack, as the former Warrington junior revolutionised the club’s style of play after slotting seamlessly into the side.
The 27 year old is in the ninth professional season of his career after originally debuting for Warrington Wolves in 2011.
Spells at seven different clubs have brought nearly 200 games of experience at either Championship or Super League level, allowing O’Brien to really hone his craft as one of the slickest organisers in the game.
After originally debuting as a half back, he made a successful transition to the back whilst at Salford and was a key component in the Red Devils’ rejuvenation into a top half Super League side in 2017, acting almost as an extra pivot with his high-quality pass distribution and vision.
His ability to find space made him an instant hit with the Wolfpack, scoring 12 tries and setting up countless others for those outside him in 23 outings for the Pack.
O’Brien also quickly established himself as the club’s first choice goal kicker, adding further value to his role in the team.
