Lamport Stadium to host Try Rugby Fun Day
A Try Rugby Fun Day, presented by Toronto’s Junior Rugby Clubs and hosted by Toronto Wolfpack, will take place at Lamport Stadium on Saturday May 11th. Open to boys and girls from ages 5 to 13, the day will include games and activities for children of all abilities.
Jon Pallett, Toronto Wolfpack Head of Marketing and Communications, commented:
“The Wolfpack believe the world is a better place with more Rugby balls in kids’ hands and, by facilitating events such as this one, we hope to encourage youngsters across the GTA into enjoying the sport we love.
“We must thank our valued partners the City of Toronto for giving us the opportunity to host a great community event at our Lamport Stadium home. This is the first of several events throughout the summer when the facility will be booked and made available to junior and community rugby.”
The day will begin at 10am when gates to Lamport Stadium, aka ‘The Den’, will open. Mini training sessions will then kick off the action followed by lunch, before exhibition games take place in the early afternoon.
Ross Pinkerton, President of Nomads Junior Rugby added:
“The Try Rugby-Fun Day is a perfect opportunity for youngsters who are interested to run around with others their age, catch and pass a rugby ball, learn new skills and have fun. Canada will compete in the Rugby Union World Cup in 2019 and with TDSB elementary schools offering flag rugby in the Spring, it is a great time to give rugby a try.
“Toronto’s Junior Rugby Clubs are grateful for the Wolfpack’s generosity and support provided, without which this event would not be possible.”
A complimentary lunch will be provided to participants and food and refreshments will be available for parents and guests to purchase throughout the day.
As strong demand for places is expected and capacity at the stadium is limited, pre-registration on a first-come, first served basis, is required.
Anyone interested in taking part in the Try Rugby-Fun Day can register for the event on the Toronto Wolfpack website’s Registration Page.
