Liam Kay Re-Signs With The Wolfpack
Liam Kay, the first player to ever sign for the Toronto Wolfpack, will become one of the first to feature in the Super League when the transatlantic side plays their Season Opener on February 2. Fresh off signing a two-year contract extension, Kay recently joined a large section of the squad as they began pre-season training in advance of the historic campaign.
The Irish international made a successful return from a serious ankle injury in 2019 and featured in 17 fixtures for the Wolfpack, including the Semi-Final and Playoff Final. While never failing to collect an impressive tally of tries himself, he has always been one to bring others into the game and 2019 was no different.
Kay’s innate knowledge of the game and extreme value to the team was on display throughout the Playoffs series. His ability to cover the ground at pace and help out his team-mates in defense is matched only by his spark in attack, something that has turned many games the Wolfpack’s way during his tenure.
Kay holds the try-scoring record for the Wolfpack and will be keen to extend his remarkable run with the side into another season. Beginning his career with the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, the Irishman has experience at the Super League level and will be one of the driving forces behind the Wolfpack’s first season in the top-flight in 2020.
A well-known and popular figure across the League, fans in Toronto have come to know Kay for his acrobatic efforts on the field and friendly demeanour away from the game. A fan-favourite from day one, there is little doubt when hearing him speak that he takes great pride in his journey with the Wolfpack. With his injury now well and truly behind him, he will be expecting to return to his best and beyond in 2020.
