Match Preview: Toronto Wolfpack vs Halifax RLFC
Toronto Wolfpack are back at the Den this weekend for a clash with Halifax RLFC on Saturday afternoon at 1pm. It is the first of two consecutive games to be scheduled for Lamport Stadium and with a warm sun forecast to bathe the city, fans are expected to pour in to see another top quality clash between two hungry teams.
Halifax are coming off a nail-biting home loss to promotion-hopefuls Featherstone Rovers and have dropped to eighth in the Championship standings as a result. Sitting four games adrift of the top five and with their finals hopes hanging by a thread, Halifax have plenty to play for as they make their way to Canadian shores.
The previous encounter between the Wolfpack and Halifax was back on March 24th, a fixture the Wolfpack claimed 48-12. Halifax began the contest brightly, shooting out to a 6-0 lead in the opening exchanges but the Wolfpack clawed them back over the course of the day to eventually emerge strong victors. Matty Russell, Blake Wallace and Andrew Dixon all finished the game with two tries to their name in a dominant performance.
Toronto are currently on a 13 game winning streak in the Championship and will not want to slow down as finals loom. Brian McDermott is sure to put out the best side he has against Halifax and fans can expect a tough encounter sure to deliver world-class rugby league action,
The Wolfpack will be celebrating superhero day at the Den before and during the clash with Halifax, so fans are encouraged to get along and support first responders from the city of Toronto. There will be activations and prizes, the typical Lamport Stadium family-friendly atmosphere and of course a chance to thank the true, everyday heroes in our community so there will be no better way to spend a Saturday than cheering on the Wolfpack.
