Bob Beswick comes into 2018 as one of the games most experienced players. There aren’t many running around with as many first team appearances as the Wolfpack hooker as this year will see him surpass a remarkable 350 career appearances across all three of the RFL’s professional leagues.
Originally from Wigan in the UK, Beswick made his debut for the Cherry and Whites in 2002, playing 22 Super League games before moving down to the Championship where he became one of the most dangerous and sort after players in the league, enjoying spells with Widnes, Halifax and most recently Leigh Centurions. His success at that level led him to the international stage, where he made 25 appearances for Ireland.
Beswick’s vision and nous out of dummy half, which he has developed over the years, sets him apart from many others in the game but his toughness and willingness to defend in the middle of the field makes him the perfect man to control things around the ruck.
The hooker also doubles up alongside teammate Andrew Dixon as one of the club’s strength and conditioning coaches and he will be hoping the squad step up their intensity this year as they attack the Championship in search of their second successive league title and promotion to Super League.
