We are very excited to announce our new Community Partnership with Iroquois Roots Rugby and to support their vision to engage Indigenous youth in the sport of rugby while preserving Indigenous culture and recognizing the unique environments of First Nations communities in Ontario.
‘The Toronto Wolfpack understand how important it is to be a part of a strong community and sport is something that can bring people from all walks of life together. We are proud and honored to have the opportunity to work with the fantastic kids, founders, coaches and people involved with Iroquois Roots Rugby and to help where ever we can to help grow this great program. We hope that we can help to increase awareness of the incredible work done by them and assist them in raising crucial funds for their programs. We look forward to hosting and seeing the kids on the field at our September 18th game against the DC Cavalry.” Commented Gary Sloane.
“Iroquois Roots Rugby is extremely excited about our partnership with the Toronto Wolfpack. This relationship will provide our youth with amazing opportunities while introducing them to rugby league. I think it’s important to give our athletes the opportunity to have exposure to both rugby codes and provide them with priceless experiences. We are so grateful to Gary Sloane for all of the time he’s already taken to chat with us and we look forward to cheering on our Wolfpack family.” Commented Melanie Squire, Co-Founder, Iroquois Roots Rugby.
About – Iroquois Roots Rugby
Co-Founded by Mother/Daughter duo Melanie Squire and Meagan Wilson (Mohawk/Turtle Clan, Six Nations of the Grand River), Iroquois Roots Rugby promotes rugby to Indigenous youth in Ontario. Our unique program provides free rugby camps and cultural workshops to Indigenous youth who may otherwise not have access to the sport. Our Indigenous-led, volunteer based initiative also provides high-performance rugby training for youth selected for our touring sides. Our goal is to visit all 133 First Nations communities in Ontario and to tour Internationally with our youth sides.
